MHA gives Y+ security to Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal, CISF personnel will be deployed

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has provided CISF Y+ category security to West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manoj Kumar Agarwal. This decision has been taken on the basis of the threat perception report of the intelligence department. Now Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel will be deployed under the security of Manoj Kumar Aggarwal.

According to sources, in the recent threat perception report prepared by intelligence agencies, fear of a possible threat to the security of the Chief Electoral Officer was expressed. Based on this input, the Home Ministry took immediate action and issued an order to provide them Y+ category security. Under the Y+ security category, the officer is given 24×7 armed security cover, manned by trained CISF personnel.

Time related to special intensive revision of voter list

This security has been given at a time when the process of hearing under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list has started from Saturday (27 December 2025). The Center has taken this step to deal with any kind of obstruction or security risk during this important and sensitive phase of the electoral process.

Why is CISF deployment important?

CISF is one of the premier Central Armed Police Forces of the country with vast experience in protecting high-risk establishments and individuals. Manoj Kumar Aggarwal getting CISF security indicates that the Central Government is fully alert to ensure fairness and transparency of the electoral process.
