Met on Instagram, fell in love, got married and then murdered…, Bengaluru man arrested by police

In Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru, a 25-year-old youth strangled his 32-year-old wife to death. After the murder, the accused husband tried to make it look like an accidental death due to electric shock. After receiving information about the case, Karnataka Police has arrested the accused husband, after which the accused has also confessed to the crime.

According to Bengaluru Police, accused Prashant Kammar and deceased Reshma met about nine months ago on the social media platform Instagram. After talking and being in a relationship for some time, both of them got married.

Reshma was earlier married to a man named Surendra, who died due to illness shortly after their marriage. Reshma and Surendra also have a 15 year old daughter. Whereas, Prashanth is an electrician by profession and is a resident of Huveena Hadagali in Ballari district of the state, while Reshma lived in Maragondanahalli of Hebbagodi.

Why did Prashant kill Reshma?,

Although Prashant and Reshma got married after several months of acquaintance, their married life was never happy. Prashant suspected that Reshma was having an affair with someone else. There were frequent fights between the two over this doubt. Due to this suspicion and quarrel, the accused husband got angry and killed Reshma.

The officer investigating the case said, ‘Prashant had doubts about Reshma’s character from the beginning. He often accused her of having an affair with someone else and had fights with her. A similar fight also took place on Wednesday (October 15, 2025). But this time Prashant attacked Reshma and strangulated her to death.

He said, ‘To hide his crime, the accused kept Reshma’s body in the bathroom and to make it look like an accident, filled a bucket with water, switched on the water heater and left the body there to make it look like an accident due to electric shock.’

How was the matter revealed?,

The matter came to light when Reshma’s daughter returned from school and found her mother unconscious in the bathroom and called her grandmother for help. After this Reshma was taken to the nearest hospital, where she was declared dead.
