The bandh called by BC (Backward Classes) unions in Telangana has received full support from the Congress Party. In this sequence, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Mahesh Kumar Gaur, Chairman, and Mrityukshma Porata Committee (MRPS) Founder of BC Manda Krishna Madig took part in the bandh protest along with BC union leaders at MGBS Imli bus stand in Hyderabad.
BC community leaders and workers raised slogans during the demonstration. During this, BJP and BRS were fiercely attacked and slogans were raised that “Anti-BC BJP and BRS leaders will not be allowed to roam in Telangana.” The bandh has been called by the Joint Action Committee of BC unions, which aims to raise the demands of the community and put pressure on the government.
What is the meaning of Congress’ support?
By formally supporting this bandh, the Congress Party has clearly created a new equation in the politics of the state. The direct participation of senior party leaders in this protest is being seen as a strategy to woo the BC community and corner the BJP and the ruling BRS.
Huge support for bandh in Mahabubnagar also
The impact of this bandh was not limited to the capital Hyderabad. The bandh also got huge support in Mahboob Nagar, where many Congress leaders including Fisheries Chairman Mettu Sai Kumar participated in the bandh program on the call of BC unions and brought the people out on the road. This bandh presents a bigger picture of the growing political consciousness of the BC community in Telangana politics and their coming closer to the Congress.
