Case of Jai Anant Dehadrai and Mahua Moitra

Many legal disputes have been going on between Jai Anant Dehadrai and Mahua Moitra for the last few years. Dehadrai had alleged that Mahua Moitra took bribe from businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for asking questions in Parliament. Later Nishikant Dubey also lodged a complaint in this regard before the Lok Sabha Speaker. On the basis of these allegations, the Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha recommended action. After this, on 8 December 2023, Mahua Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha. Mahua Moitra denied these allegations and said that Darshan Hiranandani is her friend and no transaction of any kind took place. He called it political vendetta.
