Lokayukta’s action in Karnataka caused a stir, raids on the locations of 8 government officials, know what has been done so far?

In Karnataka, the Lokayukta raided the locations of 8 government officials on Wednesday (July 23, 2025). This action was taken by the Lokayukta on the matter of disproportionate assets. These include IAS officer Vasanti Amar. Vasanti Amar currently holds the post of Special Deputy Commissioner in K-Ride.

The Lokayukta team is raiding the house of Vasanti Amar in RT Nagar, Bangalore. An FIR was lodged against Vasanti Amar at Halasur Gate Police Station in Bengaluru last week. It is alleged that he had issued an illegal order in a case of 10.2 acres of land in Dasanpura Hobli, Bengaluru North between June and September 2024.

On whose complaint is raided?
The Lokayukta has taken this action on the complaint of Prashant Khangoda Patil, posted as an office assistant in the office of Deputy Commissioner. The police had earlier filed a non-hygienic report, but later after the court order, it was converted into FIR under Section 257 of the Code of Justice of India (BNS).

Which officers raided here?
Apart from IAS Vasanti Amar, Bagli Maruti, who is posted in the Assistant Director City and Rural Project Department, Sahakaranagar Bangalore and there is also a search at the locations associated with HV Yapa Reddy’s Bangalore, Executive Engineer HV Yapa Reddy, Executive Engineer of Brihat Bengaluru Municipal Palike (BBMP). In the raid of Bagli Maruti, a large amount of cash, expensive watches, price jewelery and many other items have been found.

The Lokayukta team also raided the houses of other officers. These include Manjunathswamy M, Joint Director of the Department of Skill Development Entrepreneurship and Livelihood. B Venkatarama, office assistant’s house was also raided.

Apart from this, a search was also conducted at Rajesh M, Assistant Executive Engineer, Kiadb, Tumkur Division Office. Sunil Kumar Executive Engineer, Family and Welfare Office, Kalburgi and Sheku, Assistant Director, District Industries Center Koppal’s houses were also raided.
