Indian Embassy Safety Advisory: Amidst the increasing conflict in Iran, the Indian Embassy, Tehran issued a new security advisory on Wednesday. In this, Indian citizens living in Iran have been advised to leave the country as soon as possible. Along with this, the Embassy has also issued helpline numbers for emergency and coordination.
The embassy advisory said, “In the context of the advisory dated 07 April 2026 and in view of the recent events, Indian nationals living in Iran are strictly advised to leave Iran as soon as possible following the embassy guidance and suggested routes. Additionally, the advisory also clarified that no attempt should be made near any international border without prior consultation with the embassy.
Prior advisory to stay safe for 48 hours
A day before this, the Indian Embassy had also issued an advisory to the citizens. It said that “Indian citizens present in Iran should remain in their respective locations for the next 48 hours. During this time, they should stay away from electrical equipment, military establishments and upper floors of multi-storey buildings. Stay indoors and undertake any travel on the highway only under the strict instructions and coordination of the Embassy.”
America and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire
About 90 minutes before the end of his own set deadline, US President Donald Trump announced that the US has agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran on Pakistan’s proposal. Trump made this announcement on Truth Social on Tuesday evening (US time). On the other hand, Democratic Party leaders are demanding Trump’s removal from office over his threat to destroy Iranian civilization. Trump said in a social media post, “Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir have requested that I stop tonight’s destructive action against Iran, but on the condition that the Islamic Republic of Iran agrees to fully, immediately and safely open the Strait of Hormuz.”
