The government has taken a big decision amidst the LPG crisis arising due to the war in the Middle East. Priority will be given to providing 5 kg cylinders to the workers. At the same time, on March 21, the Government of India will give additional 50 percent of commercial LPG to the state government. Joint Secretary of the Petroleum Ministry gave this information on Monday (23 March).
‘Reduction in panic booking of LPG’
Sujata Sharma said that panic booking of LPG has decreased. He said that in the last three weeks, about 35 lakh domestic and commercial LPG connections have been given or activated. Sharma said, the situation at the retail outlet is normal. He said, LPG supply is still a matter of concern, but there is no shortage of LPG with LPG distributors. LPG bookings have reduced due to the chaos and distribution is normal.
Supply of commercial gas to states increased
Regarding commercial cylinders, he said that now about 50 percent of commercial LPG will be available to state governments and union territories. The Central Government has requested the State Governments to include in this allocation 5 kg FTL for restaurants, dhabas, hotels, industrial canteens, food processing, dairy units, concessional canteens or outlets run by the State Government or local bodies, community kitchens and migrant workers. Till now, about 20 states and union territories have allocated commercial LPG and about 15 thousand 800 tonnes of commercial LPG has been distributed.

It has also been said that the delivery of domestic LPG cylinders is going on normally. Most of the deliveries are taking place through Delivery Authentication Code (DAC). There is no information of any kind of shortage in LPG distributors.
