In Himachal Pradesh these days, rain is raining as a disaster. A cloudburst has caused great havoc on the Kinnar Kailash Yatra route in Tangling area of Kinnaur district. Hundreds of passengers got trapped due to a large part of the track. The Kinnaur Kailash Yatra has been postponed till further orders due to blocking the road due to heavy rains.
The team of the 17th Corps of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) using rope-based traverse crossing technology has so far evacuated 413 devotees and all have been evacuated to safe places. Ribba Nala has collapsed for 15 meters due to floods, the National Highway has collapsed and 2 inferior bridges have been washed away due to floods in 4 drains of Sangla Valley.
ITBP engaged in frequent relief rescue work
The rescue operation also includes 1 Gazetted Officer, 4 Sub-Ordinary Officer and ITBP team of 29 other ranks along with 1 team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Today i.e. on Wednesday (August 6, 2025), the district administration Kinnaur received information about the trapped passengers on the route, after which the joint rescue teams of ITBP and NDRF left for the site again and got involved in the rescue work. ITBP is continuously doing relief and rescue work from the coordination of district administration and other agencies.
Meteorological Department released Yellow alert for many areas of Himachal
Yellow alert of rain has been issued for Wednesday in many areas of Himachal Pradesh. The rainy season is likely to continue in the state till August 11. On Tuesday, there was light rain in Shimla throughout the day. Apart from this, there was also rain in Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Dharamshala, Nahan, Kangra and Mandi.
