BJP has achieved a historic victory by performing brilliantly in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Making a major political change, BJP has won the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation in the local body elections. LDF was in control of this corporation for the last four decades. Losing the seat of Thiruvananthapuram, considered the stronghold of the Left, is a big blow for the LDF. After the defeat in the elections, the first reaction has now come from the Left. CPIM has put the entire blame of the defeat on Congress.
CPIM’s Kerala Secretary’s reaction after defeat
On the results of Kerala local body elections, CPI(M) state secretary MV Govindan said, ‘LDF has suffered a big blow. The debacle will be thoroughly reviewed at all levels and necessary improvements will be made. LDF in Kerala has a history of moving forward by making timely reforms. There was no let-up in the LDF front. UDF contested the elections in alliance with communal forces. Many such cases have come to light where UDF votes have gone to BJP. Votes have been transferred to BJP to defeat LDF.

Let us tell you that UDF, LDF and NDA alliance had contested the elections in Kerala. Among these, CPIM leads LDF. UDF is led by Congress, while NDA is led by BJP. CPIM Secretary has alleged that UDF i.e. Congress has contested the elections in alliance with communal forces.
Sabarimala Municipality in LDF’s account
The LDF has won Pandalam Municipality, which includes the main centers associated with Sabarimala. This seat is important because the issue related to theft in Sabarimala temple remained an important issue during the civic elections. The CPIM leader rejected the issue and said that if it had been so, we would not have won the Pandalam seat.

He further said, ‘In the last local body elections, LDF had won a landslide victory. Gave many gifts to the state. There is a need to investigate why these achievements did not yield electoral benefits. What shortcomings remained at the organizational level will be reviewed. The party will reach more people. Will move forward. The party will soon emerge from this phase. If there was anti-incumbency against LDF, how could the Left win in seven district panchayats?
