Karnataka Politics: Table set, Siddaramaiah reached Shivkumar’s house, what will happen in the breakfast meeting?

The internal strife going on in Karnataka politics is once again in the news. Amid questions being raised regarding power sharing, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar’s meeting is taking place at the breakfast table. This meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday (December 2, 2025) at Shivakumar’s house, for which CM Siddaramaiah along with Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Have reached Shivkumar’s house.

Before the meeting D.K. Shivkumar wrote on social media that the Chief Minister has been invited for breakfast and the communication between the two leaders is open and spontaneous. Shivakumar said that despite any rumors, he and Siddaramaiah are working as a team and are in constant dialogue to fulfill the government’s promises. He also clarified that there is no rift in their relationship and both are related “like brothers”.

The initiative of the high command worked

Before this meeting, both the leaders had breakfast together on Saturday (29 November 2025). That meeting took place on the instructions of the Congress high command so that the gap emerging within the government could be reduced. That day, both the leaders had assured that there will be no confusion regarding the party and if any decision related to leadership has to be taken, then that decision will be final for everyone. This statement came when there were continuous discussions about change of leadership in the state.

Political importance of the new meeting

According to PTI report, this meeting is not just an ordinary meeting but is part of the strategy made by the Delhi leadership. The Belagavi session of the Karnataka Assembly is about to begin and the party wants that before that everything looks normal within the government. Many political experts believe that this meeting also indicates that Siddaramaiah will remain the Chief Minister for the time being and all the speculations related to change of leadership may cool down for now.

Shivkumar’s comment on media

The repeated questions raised by journalists regarding factionalism also made Shivkumar a little angry. He said that the media itself creates the story of two groups, whereas no such dispute is visible within the party. Shivkumar claimed that 140 MLAs are standing with him and the party is united. He also said that the last meeting took place only because of the continuous discussion in the media.

Shivkumar’s brother’s activities also in discussion

Deputy Chief Minister’s brother and former MP D.K. Suresh has recently returned from Delhi. On his return he said that his visit was personal and the government was running absolutely normally. When he was asked questions about change of leadership, he avoided any statement and only said that the high command will decide everything when the time comes. Smiling, he said that one should just wait a little and what will happen next will be revealed on its own.

Discussions increased after half term

The Congress government of Karnataka has completed half of its five-year tenure in November. After this, the discussions about the Chief Minister formula for two and a half years became intense again. Many ministers and MLAs started talking about change in leadership, due to which the news of tussle between two big leaders intensified. Now the high command is trying to handle the situation by bringing both the leaders together so that the government remains stable.
