Scooty Ride became a problem for Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar, last Tuesday (on the inspection of Hebbal flyover loop, DK Shivkumar used Scooty, a total of Rs 18,500 traffic fine was pending.
On August 5, Shivkumar posted a video on X in which he was seen driving a Honda Dio with the KA04 JZ2087 registration number. He wrote, “Under our government’s commitment to make better Bengaluru, the Hebbal flyover loop is about to open, which will ensure easy and fast traffic.”
JDS raised the issue
On investigation on the Karnataka State Police (KSP) app, it was found that 34 traffic violations on the scooter were pending, whose fine was Rs 18,500. JDS raised the issue on Twitter and criticized the Deputy Chief Minister for driving a vehicle with such a large amount of money. After this, the worker who had this vehicle and went to the police station immediately filled this amount of fine.

Senior traffic police officer’s statement
A senior traffic police officer clearly stated that during the inspection, DK was not in accordance with the helmet rules worn by Shivkumar and the person sitting behind. He said that the half helmets worn during the inspection are illegal. However, at the moment we are not imposing a penalty on the public in such cases. We only request that people do not use such helmets. This statement reflects the difference between rules and behavior. That is, according to the rule, half the helmets are illegal, but effective enforcement is not being fully implemented yet.
Why are half the helmets illegal?
The BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) by the Government of India is legally recognized by the certified helmet. Half helmets do not protect the head. They can cause serious injuries during the accident. In this way they violate BIS standards.
