Karachi woman appeals to PM Modi to stop her husband’s second marriage, what is the whole matter?

Pakistani Woman Appeals to PM Modi: A woman named Nikita Nagdev, resident of Pakistan, has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that her Indian-origin husband Vikram Nagdev is going to marry for the second time. Nikita’s video is spreading rapidly on social media, in which she is appealing for justice. This case has attracted the attention of people and legal experts from both India and Pakistan.

Both of them got married in 2020

Nikita Nagdev is a resident of Karachi. She was married to Vikram Nagdev in Pakistan on 26 January 2020 as per Hindu rituals. Vikram has been living in Indore, India on long-term visa for many years. Just a month after the marriage, on 26 February 2020, he brought Nikita to India, but according to Nikita, soon after coming to India, there was a big change in his life.

Left Pakistan on the pretext of visa – Nikita

Nikita claims that on July 9, 2020, Vikram left her at Attari border citing visa problems and said that she cannot stay in India right now. Nikita was forced to return to Pakistan. He appealed several times to Vikram to call him back, but Vikram made no effort.

According to Nikita, Vikram’s behavior had changed after marriage. She tells that she came to know that Vikram is having an affair with a relative. When she complained to her in-laws, she was told that men have such relationships. Nikita was very hurt by this.

Husband’s second marriage revealed

After returning to Karachi, Nikita came to know that Vikram was preparing for second marriage with an Indian woman. Knowing this she was devastated and took the legal route. She lodged a written complaint on January 27 this year that despite marriage, Vikram was trying for second marriage.

The matter was also taken up with the Sindh Arbitration and Legal Center of Pakistan. Notices were sent to both the parties and hearings were also held, but no agreement could be reached. The Centre’s report said that since both the husband and wife are not Indian citizens, this matter falls under the jurisdiction of Pakistan. Also, a recommendation was made to bring Vikram back to Pakistan.

Indore Social Panchayat also recommended

Nikita also sought help from Indore Social Panchayat in May this year. The committee there also suggested that Vikram should go to Pakistan and resolve the matter. Indore District Magistrate Ashish Singh has confirmed that investigation into the matter has been initiated and action will be taken after the full report is received.

Nikita says in her video that if she does not get justice, many women will lose faith in the justice system. He said that many girls face atrocities in their in-laws’ houses, but no one listens to their voices.
