Judge cash scandal: Allahabad High Court Judge Justice Yashwant Verma has filed a petition in the Supreme Court. He has demanded to declare the report of the investigation committee invalid in the case of getting a burnt cash from his house as a judge of Delhi High Court.

In the petition, Justice Verma has said that the committee did not give him a proper opportunity to present his case. Worked on the basis of predetermined thinking and gave his conclusion. There was a need to investigate whose cash it was? But instead of conducting proper investigation, the committee asked him to prove that the cash is not their.

What is the whole matter?
This year, on March 14, Justice Yashwant Verma’s Delhi’s house was on fire. After extinguishing the fire, the police and firefighters saw a large amount of burnt cash there. On March 22, the then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Sanjeev Khanna, formed the investigation committee of 3 judges of the investigation of the case. The chairman of this committee was the Chief Justice Sheel Nagu of the Punjab-Haryana High Court. Himachal Pradesh High Court Chief Justice GS Sandalia and Karnataka High Court Judge Anu Shivraman were its members.

Government can bring a proposal to remove Justice Verma
On May 4, the investigation committee gave its report to the then Chief Justice. In this report, Justice Yashwant Verma was held guilty of misconduct. On 8 May, the Chief Justice sent the report to the President and the Prime Minister for further action. There is a discussion that a proposal can be brought in Parliament to remove Justice Verma from the post.
