The impact of the ongoing war in the Middle East is now clearly visible on the Iranian government. The situation has become such that it has become difficult for the government to take major decisions and plan counter-attacks. In about 4 weeks since the war started, many big leaders of Iran and their associates have been killed. The leaders who are still left are having trouble even talking to each other. They are also avoiding meeting face to face, because they fear that their conversations may be monitored and they may be made targets of air strikes.
Meanwhile, the Donald Trump administration has said that a new government is now working in Iran and pressure is being put on it to reach an agreement soon, but the problem is that the government’s decision-making ability has become weak, due to which it is becoming difficult to negotiate and reach any conclusion. It is not clear to the new leaders as to what kind of compromise they should make or how much concession the government is willing to make. They don’t even know whom to seek advice from.
Economic pressure increased due to war on Iran
However, some former US officials believe that when economic pressure due to war increases, Iran may move towards an agreement. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has warned that if an agreement is not reached soon, the war may escalate further. He also indicated that the US military may try to capture Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil export hub. The communication system in Iran has also become weak, due to which there is an atmosphere of fear and confusion among the remaining leaders. They feel that Israeli intelligence agencies are keeping an eye on their phones and messages, so they are avoiding even making calls.
Ali Khamenei’s death
At the beginning of the war on Iran, Israel launched a major attack, in which Iranian-led targets were targeted. Many senior officials including Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei were killed in this attack. Some lower level officers were also killed in this attack. Donald Trump has also said many times that many potential people for Iran’s leadership have been killed in this war. The current war has weakened the Iranian government from within, making the future situation even more uncertain.
