The Supreme Court has given a big blow to former Haryana MLA Dharam Singh Chokkar, who was caught in a money laundering case of about 600 crore rupees. The court has given strict order to surrender him immediately and go to jail. Chokkar had tried to increase the medical bell, but the court dismissed his petition and said that he had misled the court.
The arguments that Chokkar’s lawyer gave in the court was described as false and misleading. The judge reprimanded the lawyer in the open court and clearly said that this is the misuse of the law. The court said, “This case shows how influential people play with the system.”
Chhokkar was roaming freely on the pretext of surgery
Dharam Singh Chokkar had earlier received bail for medical reasons. It was said that he needed surgery, but he has not done any surgery till now. On July 5, he was discharged from the hospital and since then he was seen walking openly. Not only this, he also refused to take treatment in AIIMS two or three times. Out of the 50 -day custody, he spent 23 days in hospitals like Gurugram Civil Hospital and PGIMS Rohtak, which increased the doubt that he was taking the wrong advantage of Bell.
Court rejected medical bell
ED arrested Chokkar on 5 May 2025 from one time of Shangri-La Hotel in New Delhi. He was absconding for almost two years and was escaping from arrest. Chhokkar is accused of cheating thousands of home buyers and more than 600 crores.
The Supreme Court said in clear terms that Chokkar and his lawyer tried to fool the court. The court said that such action ends people’s trust in the system. After this, the court immediately ordered surrender and abolished the medical bell.
