Tamil Nadu Governor R. N. Ravi said in Chennai on Saturday (November 1, 2025) that India is changing under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the country has achieved remarkable economic progress in the last decade. With this, success has been achieved in reducing poverty in the country.
The Governor said that 10 years ago, India was not taken that seriously in the world, because it (India) was behind in many matters. But now the situation has changed and the process of change has started in the country. He said that both the North-Eastern region and Jammu and Kashmir, which are being freed from Maoist violence, are now moving towards peace.

Speaking at a function organized at the Raj Bhavan on the occasion of the foundation days of various states and union territories of India, Ravi said, ‘Fortunately the country has a leadership that understands India and its heartbeat. I can say with confidence that after Mahatma Gandhi, if there is anyone who understands this country so well, it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that international organizations say that the level of absolute poverty has come down from 30 percent a decade ago to below six percent.
There should be right direction along with right intention – Governor
The Governor said, ‘These miracles happen because the leadership is in the right direction. I do not say that earlier people did not have the right intentions, but with the right intentions there should also be the right direction. Today we are celebrating the culture of 16 states and union territories. This is one India, the best India. He said that the states were created by the British to rule the country. But after independence, it was unfortunate that people continued to create barriers among themselves in the name of language and created the concept of linguistic minority.
Tamil Nadu Governor R. N. Ravi also remembered the efforts of India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary is celebrated as National Unity Day on 31 October.
