Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday (August 25, 2025), referring to the conversation with Fiji’s Prime Minister Creatiny Rabuka, ‘The Prime Minister of both the country has also decided to further strengthen mutual defense relations. Climate change is a threat to fiji and India will help in dealing with disaster response. India and Fiji may be on different sides of the sea, but both have the same expectations and targets. Fiji is committed to independent, inclusive, open, safe and prosperous India-Pacific.
Seven agreements signed between India and Fiji
The Prime Minister further said that both countries have decided to strengthen mutual cooperation in the defense and security sector. India and Fiji PM signed seven agreements to increase cooperation in various fields. According to media statement, Fiji holds great importance for India in the sector of marine security. Amid efforts to increase China’s intervention in the Pacific Ocean, India is trying to strengthen its defense sector with Fiji.
According to the PTI report, PM Modi has announced that India will provide training and technical assistance to strengthen Fiji’s maritime security. An action plan has been prepared for this. Talking about the major regions of India in the south, the PM said that India is a partner in the development journey of this region. We are partners in the creation of a global system where freedom, thoughts and identity are respected.
Fiji’s PM Rabuka’s three -day visit to India
Let us know that Fiji’s PM Rabuka arrived in Delhi for a three -day visit on 24 August, which is his first visit to India as the Prime Minister of the South Pacific region. India and Fiji have deep cultural and practical relations since 1879, when Indian Indian workers were brought to Fiji under the British bonded labor system.
Earlier, India’s President Draupadi Murmu traveled to Fiji and now the Prime Minister Critiveni Ligamada Rabuka’s visit to India highlights the ongoing high-level relations between the two countries.
Fiji’s Prime Minister’s lecture in Sapru House
According to an official statement released by India on Thursday, Rabuka’s visit shows a long -term and strong partnership between India and Fiji. This shows the continuous commitment of the two countries to further strengthen bilateral relations in all regions and to deepen close relations between our people.
According to the ANI report, the Prime Minister of Fiji will give a lecture at Sapru House on 26 August during his visit to India. The event is being organized by the Council of Indian World Affairs (ICWA). His journey will end with returning from Delhi on 27 August.
