The date of launch of the communication satellite CMS-03 (CMS-03) prepared for the Indian Navy has been fixed. It is also known as GSAT-7R. ISRO has announced that this special satellite will be sent into space through LVM-3 rocket from Sriharikota at 5.26 pm on 2nd November. Earlier this satellite was to be launched by the end of the year 2024, but due to technical reasons it got delayed. Now all its preparations have been completed and pre-launch processes have been started by installing LVM-3 on the launchpad.
The weight of CMS-03 satellite is about 4,400 kg. Will head towards space aboard the 5th operational flight of LVM-3. This will be the heaviest communication satellite ever sent from India into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO). The CMS-03 satellite will use multiple bands for voice, video and data communications between ships, submarines and aircraft of the Indian Navy. This will significantly increase India’s maritime surveillance and communication capabilities. With its help, he will keep a close eye on the activities of enemy countries like Pakistan and China.
CMS-03 a multi-band communications satellite
According to ISRO scientists, CMS-03 is a multi-band communication satellite, which will provide services in the Indian land area as well as in the wide maritime area. It is noteworthy that the LVM-3 rocket is the same launch vehicle that successfully launched the Chandrayaan-3 mission, making India the first country to land on the South Pole of the Moon.
use of military satellite
Military satellites are primarily used for defense-related purposes, such as military communications, navigation (e.g. GPS/GLONASS/IRNSS), signals intelligence (SIGINT), image reconnaissance (IMINT) and persistent surveillance. The importance of intelligence becomes very important in modern warfare and national security, because without entering the battlefield, satellites can provide important data about the enemy’s infrastructure, forces, activities and resources.
