ED has achieved great success in the investigation of cases to be sent to America through Dunky Route. During the raids conducted at 11 places in Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday (July 9, 2025), ED has recovered 30 real passports, several crores of cash and evidence related to hawala transactions and several important documents related to illegal immigration and many important documents and digital devices.
The ED raids were conducted on 9 July in Amritsar, Sangrur, Patiala, Moga and Ambala, Karnal, Kurukshetra in Haryana. The raid was conducted in the Dunki route case, in which it was revealed to send people to America illegally from India.
Illegal immigration through Dunky
Dunky Route is an illegal immigration method, in which agents cross the boundaries of many countries to America or Europe. A huge amount is collected for this. Travel agents and international mafia join this racket.
According to the ED, in February 2025, a large number of Indians from the United States were submitted. When his journey was investigated, it was found that he had reached illegally through the Dunki route. On this, the Punjab and Haryana Police registered several FIRs and the ED started an investigation from the money laundering angle.
Crores of cash and hawala transactions
During the raid, ED received 30 real passports from an agent’s house, which is in the name of other people. Apart from this, evidence related to crores of rupees cash and hawala transactions has been found. Digital devices, receipts, list of agents and travel documents have also been seized. Not only this, the names of many travel agents and immigration firms have come out which are involved in this illegal work.
According to ED officials, the investigation is still going on and many more agents and money trail links are being added. Those whose names have come up can be questioned further. ED is now investigating the assets and bank transactions of these agents.
