On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached the store of Khadi village industry and bowed to the Father of the Nation. On this occasion, underlining the importance of Khadi and Swadeshi, he said that the idea of Khadi and Swadeshi came out from the freedom movement and today this movement is once again taking the form of a mass movement with the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Modi has carried forward as a ‘movement’ by not considering Khadi as just a cloth. Under his leadership, the business of Khadi has increased manifold and it has become a strong basis of livelihood of millions of families. He told that Khadi is not only a garment, but a symbol of self -reliance and patriotism.
Crores of villagers benefit from indigenous campaign
The Home Minister said that PM Modi is constantly emphasizing on the use of indigenous products. Inspired by his call, millions of families across the country have taken a pledge that they will use indigenous items in place of foreign goods. This will not only promote local artisans and industries, but will also strengthen India’s economy.
Amit Shah appealed to the public to contribute to the purchase of products related to Khadi and Village Industries. He said that if every family purchased Khadi worth at least 5000 rupees annually, then this movement will be stronger and crores of rural families will get direct benefit.
The target of ‘developed India’ by 2047
He expressed confidence that promoting Khadi and Swadeshi will help achieve the goal of ‘developed India’ by 2047. Shah said that the concept of Gandhiji’s dreams of India and self -reliant nation will come true only when the people adopt indigenous and Khadi.
