In the monsoon session of Parliament, there was a fierce debate between Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and senior Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The focus of the debate was the success and transparency of the terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Kashmir and the ‘Operation Sindoor’ run by India on the terrorist bases of Pakistan. Gaurav Gogoi questioned how many Rafale aircraft of India were destroyed during this operation. He sought an answer from the Defense Minister that if some aircraft have been damaged, is it not a serious damage to the country?
Gaurav Gogoi’s questions
Gogoi cited an interview by Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan in which he said that India suffered air damage at the beginning of Operation Sindoor, but he did not give detailed information. Based on this, Gogoi said in Parliament, ‘India has only 35 Rafale aircraft, if anything has fallen, then it is a huge loss.’
He accused the government of lack of transparency and asked, ‘The country wants to know-100 days have passed, but the culprits of the Pahalgam attack have not been brought to justice till now.’
The truth was not only hidden from the soldiers, not only the public
Gogoi demanded that the government make it clear how many aircraft of India were damaged in Operation Sindoor and how many enemies were destroyed. He said, ‘The truth is not only for the public but also for our soldiers, who may not be given the right information from the government.’
Rajnath Singh’s retaliation
Targeting the opposition, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that ‘some opposition members are asking how many aircraft of our fall, but this question does not reflect the national spirit. They should have asked how many enemy aircraft our Air Force dropped.
He underlined the success of Operation Sindoor and said, ‘Yes, we destroyed terrorist hideouts. Yes, the operation was successful. Yes, many terrorists were killed and not a single soldier was harmed.
Gogoi’s sharp attack on Modi government
Attacking the central government, Gogoi said that Home Minister Amit Shah should take responsibility for the Pahalgam attack. He said, ‘Accountability of the attack cannot be put on the LG of Jammu and Kashmir. This responsibility is made by the Home Minister.
Gogoi, citing the statement of US President Donald Trump, said that Trump claimed ’26 times’ that he tried to stop the struggle between India and Pakistan through trade. He questioned that ‘whom did Prime Minister Narendra Modi show bend in front of?’

Gogoi questioned the policy of the Modi government and said that if Pakistan was forced to bow down, then why do we back down? When the Prime Minister says ‘We entered the house and hit’, now the same statement is being repeated even after Operation Sindoor. If this operation is incomplete, how can it be called successful? ‘
He said that the government itself is saying that it was not a war, did not intend to take land, then when will Pakistan-Authorized Kashmir (POK) be taken? ‘The most severe terrorist attacks took place during your government,’ he said.
Gogoi said- truth is being hidden
Gogoi also alleged that the government was hiding its weakness and even the blame of Pahalgam attack was put on the tour operators. He said, ‘This government is so cowardly that it also puts the responsibility of terrorism on others.’ He reiterated that the defense minister said a lot in his speech, but did not say how the terrorists reached Pahalgam and why they have not been acted till now.
