Jamaat-e-Islami Hind made serious allegations against the Uttar Pradesh government and administration on Tuesday (October 07). The organization said that freedom of expression in the state is being attacked and peaceful slogans like “I Love Mohammad” are also being seen as a crime.
In the press conference, the representatives of the organization said, “If a person writes ‘I LOVE MOHAMMAD’ at his home, then the police is considering it.
“Bulldozers have been made a symbol of fear”
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind alleged that the UP government has made the bulldozer a “symbol of fear” and the orders of the Supreme Court are also being ignored. The organization said that atrocities have increased not only in the state but also with Dalits and women.
The organization said, “Action should be taken on such officials who made the message of love a crime. ‘I love mohammad’ is not a hatred, the message of love.”
Accused of taking political advantage
The organization spokespersons said, Jamaat alleged that all this is being done for political gains in view of the upcoming elections. “This model of UP is a warning for the whole country.”
Questions raised on SIR process in Bihar
In the press conference, the organization also raised serious questions on Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. He said that BLO (Booth Level Officer) did not reach many areas and less than 2% people got signed form.
Jamaat said, “Political demographic is being replaced in the name of SIR, especially in Muslim areas. About 33% Muslim votes have been cut, while their share in the population is only 16%. This process is completely opaque.”
“UP’s model warns for the country”
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has said that the model of UP is a warning for the country. The organization alleged that there are atrocities against Muslims, Dalits and women in Uttar Pradesh and the administration is using bulldozers and other measures to intimidate them.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind said that this SIR is not actually SIR, but it is being used to change political demographics, especially in Muslim areas. He alleged that about 33% of the Muslim votes were cut, while their share of the total population is only 16%.
The organization also mentioned the recent incident of Bareilly. He says that the riot is usually between the two communities, but the allegations were made only on Muslims.
