New Delhi Railway Station, one of the busiest railway stations in India, is now going to become more convenient for passengers. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav inaugurated a permanent Passenger Facilitation Center at the station on Saturday (11 October 2025). Its objective is to provide comfortable accommodation to the passengers, especially those who travel without reservation and get stuck in the crowd on the platform.
The Railway Minister said that New Delhi station is always crowded and sometimes the number of passengers increases suddenly. In view of this, an experiment was conducted with a temporary holding area two years ago. The travelers benefited greatly from that experiment. Now this permanent facility has been established so that passengers can get a better experience.”
New experience of facilities for passengers
Under the new system, passengers will get a welcoming environment as soon as they reach the station. A large waiting area for seating, adequate number of toilets and a new layout of ticket counters has been prepared here. The Railway Minister said that the old ticket counters present inside the station are now being shifted to this new passenger convenience center so that unnecessary crowding on the platform can be reduced. This facility will help passengers wait, relax and get necessary information before the arrival of the train.
New model will be implemented on 76 stations of the country
Ashwini Vaishnav told that this will not be limited to New Delhi station only. A similar system is being implemented at 76 major stations across the country so that passengers do not have to face crowding on the platforms. Every possible effort is being made to bring this system to a new level.” He said that on-ground testing of this system will be done during the upcoming festivals Chhath Puja and Diwali. There is a huge crowd of passengers during these festivals, in such a situation this facility can prove to be an effective solution for crowd control.
