The Central Government has made a big achievement in the direction of Naxal-free India. The number of districts most affected by Naxalism has now reduced by half from 6 to only 3. At present only Bijapur, Sukma and Narayanpur districts of Chhattisgarh are considered most affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE). At the same time, the total number of districts affected by Left Wing Extremism has also reduced from 18 to only 11.
Thousands of militants want to return to the mainstream of society
This year, the government and security agencies have created many new records of success in the campaign of Naxal-free India. Security forces have killed 312 leftist cadres, including the Communist Party of India (Maoist) General Secretary and eight members of the Politburo and Central Committee. Apart from this, 836 cadres have been arrested and 1639 militants, including one Politburo and one Central Committee member, have surrendered and decided to return to the mainstream.
Successful action is being taken due to better coordination between central and state government.
Under the steps taken by the Central Government and the security agency, the operations were carried out on the basis of accurate intelligence information. Immediate action was taken in areas with security vacuum and the financial sources of Naxalites were completely cut off. With this, through better coordination between the state and the Centre, prompt investigation and trial of Maoist cases could begin.
Central government’s announcement – India will become a Naxal-free country by March 31, 2026
