In Chhattisgarh, security forces have achieved great success in the anti-Naxal operation. Based on intelligence about the presence of armed Maoists in the southern area of Bijapur district, security forces started a search operation. Intermittent firing has been going on between DRG and Maoists since 5 am. So far, bodies of two Maoists have been recovered from the encounter site.
This encounter took place in the forests of Pamalur in Kistaram police station area. Konta Area Committee Secretary Sachin Mangadu is also among the killed Naxalites. Sukma SP Kiran Chavan is continuously monitoring the operation. Automatic weapons like AK-47 and INSAS have also been recovered from the encounter site. The other slain Naxalites are still being identified.
‘A total of 14 Naxal bodies recovered’
According to IG Bastar P Sundarraj, bodies of two Maoists have so far been recovered from the encounter site during the search operation. He said that during anti-Naxal operations in Bastar range, bodies of a total of 14 Naxalites have been recovered by the security forces. Bodies of 2 Maoists from Bijapur district and 12 from Sukma district, totaling 14 Maoists, have been recovered. A large quantity of weapons like AK 47, INSAS, SLR Rifles were also recovered from the encounter site.
He further said that since the operation is still going on, the exact location of the encounter, the number of security forces involved in the operation and other sensitive information cannot be shared at this time, so as to ensure the safety of the soldiers engaged in the operation. He further said that detailed information related to the campaign will be shared after the completion of the operation.
285 Naxalites killed in 2025
Let us tell you that in 2025, 285 Naxalites were killed in separate encounters with security forces in Chhattisgarh. Of these, 257 Naxalites were killed in Bastar division, which includes 7 districts including Bijapur, while 27 others were killed in Gariaband district of Raipur division. Earlier on December 20, security forces had recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition in Sukma.
