ED’s big action against former CEO of ‘Invest UP’, raid in Lucknow in money laundering case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided on Thursday (7 August 2025) in a case of money laundering against suspended IAS officer and Invest UP Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abhishek Prakash, alleged middlemen Nayant Jain and some others.

Sources said that four complexes associated with Abhishek Prakash allegedly seeking bribe are being searched under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). He said that apart from Niyam Jain’s house, two premises registered as offices of companies belonging to him and his family members are also being raided. He said that raids are also being conducted in the hotel in which his family members are joint directors.

Earlier, Jain was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police. The Uttar Pradesh government suspended 2006 batch IAS officer Prakash in March this year when an investor from the solar industry filed a complaint accusing Nikant Jain of demanding commission to approve the projects.

‘Invest UP’ is the state agency to encourage investment, which aims to attract investment and make it easy. Abhishek Prakash was working as its CEO. Officials had earlier stated that Jain was arrested for demanding money from the help of ‘Invest UP’ officials to Jain for demanding money from him.

IAS officer Vijay Kiran Anand was given this responsibility after the suspension of former UP CEO Abhishek Prakash. Vijay Anand is an IAS officer who played an important role in the success of Prayagraj Mahakumbh.
