According to party sources, at least six MLAs are camping in the national capital. Whereas, some more MLAs are likely to reach Delhi soon. The MLAs who reached Delhi are preparing to meet the Congress high command and raise a formal demand for giving the post of Chief Minister to Shivkumar. These MLAs include many MLAs including Uday Gowda, Iqbal Hussain, Balkrishna.
Here, due to the increasing stir among the MLAs already present in Delhi, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah clearly said that the final decision on the change of leadership will be taken only by the high command. He reiterated that both he and his deputy should respect the party’s decision.
Siddaramaiah said, “We will abide by the decision of the high command. If they decide that I continue as chief minister, I will continue. Ultimately whatever the high command decides, I have to accept it. Shivakumar should also accept it.”
These intensifying movements in the state politics have increased the pressure on the Congress leadership. Whereas this ongoing tug of war regarding the post of Chief Minister may take a bigger political turn in the coming days.
Leaders close to Siddaramaiah also met Kharge
On Sunday, ministers close to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also met National President Kharge. These include HC Mahadevappa and K. Venkatesh was involved. He said, at present there is no situation to change the CM in Karnataka. The decision of the high command in this regard will be final. Actually, 2.5 years of Congress government have been completed in Karnataka. In such a situation, the issue of balance of power has become heated. While on one hand DK Shivkumar’s supporters went to Delhi and met Kharge, Shivkumar has also denied knowledge of any such programme.
