Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress government regarding this incident. However, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee apologized for the chaos in the stadium and said that she was extremely saddened and shocked by the incident. The BJP accused him of shedding crocodile tears and termed the uproar as an insult to both the state and the game of football.
BJP and Congress blamed the Trinamool Congress government for the chaos at the stadium, while the ruling party distanced itself from the entire incident and said that the event at the football stadium was organized by a private agency.
BJP targeted Mamata Banerjee
After this incident that took place in West Bengal’s capital Kolkata, BJP’s IT department head Amit Malviya took a sharp dig at state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said that she is shedding crocodile tears. Making allegations in a post on social media platform X, he said, ‘This chaos and corruption has become a part of the working style of the Trinamool government. TMC has insulted the sentiments of the people of West Bengal and football lovers through this incident.

Apart from this, he has demanded immediate removal of West Bengal Sports Minister Arup Biswas and Minister Sujit Bose from their posts without any delay and registration of FIR against them. Besides this, he also said that full refund of their tickets should be given to all the spectators who reached the stadium, who had come to watch the program after paying huge amount.
CM Mamta ordered investigation
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed grief over this incident and apologized. He has also formed a committee to investigate this incident. The inquiry committee will be headed by retired Justice of Calcutta High Court Ashish Kumar Rai. This committee will also include the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary of the Home and Hill Affairs Department. Mamta said that the committee will investigate the incident in detail and decide the responsibility and will suggest measures to prevent such incidents in future.
