India’s women’s cricket team has achieved a historic achievement by winning the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 title. In the final match played on Sunday (November 2), India won its first ODI World Cup title by defeating South Africa by 52 runs. With this victory, there is an atmosphere of celebration in the entire country, while a wave of happiness has run at the house of Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma based in Agra.
Deepti Sharma’s father Bhagwan Sharma said while talking to the media, “We are feeling very happy and proud. This is not just the victory of our daughter but of the entire country. When Deepti comes home, she will be given a grand welcome in the whole of Agra. She performed brilliantly in the entire tournament and also took the team to a strong position in the finals.” Deepti’s mother Sushila Sharma said emotionally, “Everyone’s head is held high with pride. Our daughters have made us proud. Every daughter of the country will get inspiration from Deepti.”

After this victory, Union Minister of State S.P. Singh Baghel also congratulated the Indian women’s team and said, “This is not just a victory, but a golden chapter in the history of Indian cricket. Deepti Sharma has performed exceptionally and has brought glory to the country. Today’s victory is the beginning of a new era for Indian women’s cricket.”
India had given a target of 299 runs in the final match.
In the final match, India, batting first, scored 298 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs, in response to which South Africa’s team was reduced to 246 runs. In this victory, Deepti Sharma bowled brilliantly and took 5 wickets and turned the match towards India. South African captain Laura Wolvaardt’s inning of 101 runs could not save the team. This is India’s first title win in the 52-year World Cup history of women’s cricket. Apart from Deepti, Shefali Verma also gave an excellent all-round performance by scoring 87 runs and taking 2 wickets, for which she was adjudged Player of the Match.
