A unique example of how public money is being wasted in the name of development has been seen in Jadcharla assembly constituency of Telangana. Where the collusion between contractors and officials has crossed all limits of corruption. Here the basic rules have been kept aside in road construction. The contractors have laid the layer of asphalt directly on the red soil without any ballast and base.
What is the whole matter?
Actually, the construction work of one kilometer road from Badarevalli to Devunigutta Tanda is going on in Bodgutta Tanda Gram Panchayat under Balanagar Mandal. This project is being done under the Roads and Buildings Department (R&B). But the way the road is being constructed has exposed the entire system.
Asphalt is being laid on raw soil only
Standards are used in strong road construction. Layers of murram and ballast (WBM) have to be laid on it, after which the roller is rolled. But here the contractor, adopting a shortcut, has applied black asphalt on the raw soil. Due to this, the road started crumbling within a few hours of construction. Now huge protest is being seen among the people.
The villagers have alleged that everything happened right under the nose of the officials. This road has not been able to withstand even the first rain. During this, he has demanded to cancel the license of the contractor with immediate effect. During this time villagers gathered in large numbers. He said that if action is not taken, there will be violent agitation in future. Also, a demand has been made to suspend the officers involved in this case. Villagers say that the contractors have thrown dust in our eyes by ignoring the basic rules.
