The fierce debate between Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Dasoju Shravan and Telangana Transport Minister Ponam Prabhakar made headlines during the ration card distribution program held at Banjara Bhawan in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
The dispute began when Minister Ponam accused BRS of not issuing a single ration card in the last 10 years. Responding to this statement immediately, Dasoju Shravan claimed that the BRS government had distributed 6 lakh ration cards during its reign. This sharp tip-jawk surprised the people present in the meeting.
Fraction between Congress and BRS minister
Minister Ponam Prabhakar targeted the BRS and said, ‘In the last 10 years, BRS did nothing for the poor, not a single ration card was issued. Our government is now delivering ration cards to the needy. This statement created a stir in the meeting.
In response, Dasoju Shravan retaliated with facts and said, ‘BRS government had distributed 6 lakh ration cards. This claim is completely wrong that we did not give any ration card. It is the old Congress habit to distort the facts.
Tension in Telangana politics
During this debate, the situation was further heated, when Ponam Prabhakar replied emotional by saying ‘sit, sit down’, which increased the tension in the meeting. This incident shows the increasing tension in Telangana politics in recent times, where the process of allegations and counter-allegations between the Congress and the BRS continues.
Ration card distribution is a major scheme of the Telangana government, which aims to ensure food security for poor and needy families. However, the conflict among political parties has questioned its process over this program. BRS leaders have alleged that the Congress government is discriminating against ration card distribution, while the Congress claims that they are improving the alleged injustice done under BRS rule.
