Congress leader Muralitharan’s advice to Shashi Tharoor- You have two ways and leaving the party …

Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Shashi Tharoor is continuously facing strong criticism of the Congress’s Kerala unit due to his acts, which has brought the party in a difficult situation.

His article criticizing Indira Gandhi about the Emergency was published in a Malayalam daily a day after senior Congress leader K. Muralitharan on Friday (July 11, 2025) launched a scathing attack on the MP of Thiruvananthapuram and urged him that if he feels helpless within the Congress, he should choose a clear political path.

Muralitharan, referring to Shashi Tharoor’s current dual role in the organizational structure of Parliament and the party, said, “There are two ways in front of him.” He told reporters that if there are differences, there is scope to express them within the party, but if they feel that they are unable to remain in the current system, then they should be removed from the posts assigned and choose the political path of their choice.

He said that Shashi Tharoor is a member of the working committee and the chairman of the standing committee appointed by the party. The senior leader said that he should focus on both his parliamentary responsibilities and the work of the party and move forward.

Muralitharan said, “The issues on which his opinion is different can express him by staying within the party.” He said, “But if he is feeling suffocated to such an extent in the current situation that he cannot continue in position, then he should leave the posts handed over by the party and choose the political path of his choice.”

Muralitharan emphasized that by choosing any other way away from these two available options, Shashi Tharoor’s political identity will be affected. He warned that doing so would be harmful for both the party and Shashi Tharoor.

He said, ‘If they move forward on such a path that does not match any of the two, then it becomes a case affecting their personal identity. This will be harmful to both the party and him, so as a colleague, I want to tell them that they have to choose one of the two ways.

Asked about the motive of Shashi Tharoor to praise leaders of other parties including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Muralitharan said that the MPs of Thiruvananthapuram praise everyone except Congress leaders.
