The Indian Space Research Organization on Sunday (November 2, 2025) successfully launched and placed the Indian Navy satellite in space from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. After the successful launch of the satellite, Indian Navy officials said that this satellite CMS-03 is the most advanced communication satellite of the Indian Navy till date. This communication satellite will provide strong telecommunications coverage to the Navy in the Indian Ocean region and strengthen space-based communications and maritime regional capabilities.
At the same time, an Indian Navy spokesperson said that it will provide strong telecommunication coverage in the entire Indian Ocean region. He said its payload includes transponders that are capable of supporting voice, data and video links on different communication bands.
Indigenously designed and developed communication satellite
Officials said on Sunday (November 2, 2025) that this satellite weighing 4,410 kg will significantly enhance connectivity with high-capacity bandwidth, thereby enabling seamless and secure communication links between ships, aircraft, submarines and maritime operations centers of the Indian Navy.
He said that this state-of-the-art communication satellite was indigenously designed and developed, which was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota. According to ISRO, CMS-03 is a multi-band communication satellite and will provide services over a wide maritime area including the Indian territory.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh termed this satellite launch as an important milestone in the country’s spirit of self-reliance. He posted on social media platform X and said, ‘Congratulations to ISRO on the successful launch of India’s most advanced communication satellite CMS-03.
