Jammu and Kashmir is raining continuously. After the natural disaster in Kishtwar, there has been a severe havoc in Kathua district due to cloudburst. On Sunday (August 17, 2025), flood -like conditions arose due to cloudburst, killing 7 people and injured several people.
Giving information on the social media platform X, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that he has spoken to the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir regarding the cloudburst in Kathua. Relief and rescue operations are going on by the local administration and NDRF teams have also reached the spot.

Many houses transformed into debris
There was a sudden heavy watershed due to cloudburst in the valley and Junglot villages of Kathua. Due to the grip of flood, many houses were transformed into debris. The water entered the houses of the people and has been badly affected by the railway track, the national highway and even the Kathua police station.
Officials said that clouds erupted in Jod Valley village of Rajbagh area, due to which the contact of the village has been broken from the rest of the areas. At present, the teams of police and SDRF are present on the spot and relief rescue work is going on.
