Tamil Nadu News: A shocking case has come to light in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, where a young man was trapped by posing as a woman through a mobile app and then he was robbed. This incident has once again raised concerns about increasing crimes on online platforms.

According to the information, 23 year old Loganathan, living in Ayyappan area, is working as an accountant in a private company. On the night of 16 March 2026, he contacted a woman through a mobile app. During the conversation, the two became closer and they decided to meet.

The miscreants escaped after snatching the bike and phone

Next day, i.e. in the early hours of March 17, Loganathan reached Maduravayal flyover to meet the woman, but as soon as he reached there, he was robbed as part of a well-planned conspiracy. A gang attacked him, snatched his bike and mobile phone and fled from the spot. Loganathan, who was shocked after the incident, immediately lodged a complaint at Vanagaram police station. The police registered the case and started investigation and first tried to identify the woman who had called them to meet.

The investigation revealed that the caller on the phone was not a woman but a man. Further investigation revealed that there were three accused who committed this crime. Mohammed Abdul Rahman, 20, of Namakkal district, Sathkumar, 26, and Thirumalaivasan, 29, of Cuddalore district.

All three accused arrested

The police have arrested all three accused. Investigation also revealed that the accused were living in a rented room in Chennai and worked as private bus drivers. The main accused Mohammed Abdul Rahman, posing as a woman, called Loganathan to Maduravayal, where his associates together committed the robbery.

Police have recovered the looted bike and mobile phone. Besides, four mobile phones and a knife have also been seized from the accused. At present, the police is examining the mobile phones of the accused to find out how many more such incidents they have committed.
