Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday (December 6, 2025) described the notice issued to him in the National Herald case as shocking. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Shivakumar said, “This is shocking for me. I had given all the details to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). ED had called me and my brother. We had given all the information. There is nothing wrong in our institution, being Congress members, we supported it.”
He said, “Second, there is nothing to hide. Everything is clear. I don’t know why the police needed to register the case even after the ED filed the charge sheet. We will face it and fight in the court of law.”
We pay tax, there is nothing wrong in it – Shivkumar
Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar said, “This is being done just to harass. There is nothing in it. This is our money and we can give it to whoever we want. We pay taxes and there is nothing illegal involved in this. The PMLA case is old and the chargesheet has already been filed and what investigation has to be done?”
He said, “They are trying to create confusion just to harass Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and their supporters. I received the notice yesterday, Friday (December 5, 2025), and it is shocking. I am reading it and will reply when I understand it completely. DK Suresh (Shivkumar’s younger brother and Congress MP) has also received the notice because he had made a donation.”
Calling the move wrong, he said, “National Herald and Young Indian are institutions of our party. We, Congress leaders, supported them through our trust when they were in financial trouble. Many leaders like me have helped them. I will examine the notice from a legal perspective. This is being done to harass us and is not right. I condemn it.”
of Delhi Police EOW issued notice
The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police on Friday (December 5, 2025) issued a notice to Shivkumar in the National Herald case. According to reports, the police believe that Shivakumar has important information related to this case, hence a notice has been issued.
