The pace of development of the cities of the country is so fast that soon India will leave behind developed countries like America in terms of metro network and the center point of this revolutionary change is a city like Hyderabad. The signals given by Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar have not only underlined this pace, but have also shown that the Central Government is now working on a new approach to solving the problems of the cities directly outside of Delhi.
Union Minister praised Telangana Chief Minister
Manohar Lal Khattar clarified that India is close to crossing America’s figure of 1,400 kilometers in terms of metro network, because 1,100 kilometers of network has already been built in the country and 800-850 kilometers of metro network is still under construction. Specially praising Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, he said that he has set an example by removing the obstacles in the Centre’s participation in Hyderabad Metro, due to which the Center will soon complete its participation.
Center expressed commitment for Musi River Project
The Center has also expressed concrete commitment on the pending demand of revitalization of Musi River. Khattar said that a comprehensive plan for funding from the Central Government, Asian Development Bank and other agencies is ready for this project. Its first phase will start soon, in which the focus will not only be on river bank development, but most importantly, the dirty water will be treated and released into the river, so that the Musi River can be brought back to life.
This change is not limited to just projects, but points to a change in the mindset of governance, where the Center is now giving priority to urban problems like PMAY and water supply.
CM Revanth Reddy requests Center to help in development of Hyderabad
Seeking help from the Center to rapidly develop Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy requested for immediate approval of projects like Metro Rail expansion, Mussi revival and Regional Ring Road. He said that Telangana aims to contribute 10 percent to India’s economy by 2047. He clarified that our competition is not from other states, but from cities like Tokyo, Singapore and New York. For this, the ‘Bharat Future City’ project will prove to be a game changer for India.
The ‘Telangana Rising 2047’ vision document, to be released on December 9, 2025, targets a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and $3 trillion economy by 2047.
