CBI’s International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU) got a big success in bringing Munawwar Khan to Hyderabad Airport on Thursday (September 11, 2025) in collaboration with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and Kuwait Police. The CBI and STB Chennai team took Munawar Khan custody at Hyderabad Airport itself.
CBI and STB Chennai filed a case against Munawar
According to the Central Investigation Agency, CBI, STB Chennai filed a case against Munawar Khan in 2011. He is accused that he conspired to lose crores to the Bank of Baroda and then fled to Kuwait. After this, he was declared a fugitive by the court. In 2022, CBI issued a red notice through Interpol. With the help of this notice, he was tracked in Kuwait and arrested.
India brought more than 130 desired criminals
Red notice issued by Interpol is issued to law enforcement agencies around the world to locate wanted criminals. CBI is working as National Central Bureau for Interpol in India. The CBI coordination with all law enforcement agencies in India through Bharatpol. In the last few years, more than 130 wanted criminals have been brought back to India by coordinating through interpol channels.
