Case of molestation of actress Sapna Gill, cricketer Prithvi Shaw filed reply in the court

Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw and his friend Ashish Yadav have presented their reply before the court on the criminal revision application filed by actor Sapna Gill in the sessions court located in Dindoshi, Mumbai. The cricketer has called the petition false and disturbing. Also demanded the court to reject it. Shaw has said in his reply filed in the court that there is an attempt to defame him by misusing his public image and celebrity status, and there is also an intention to harass him mentally.

What is the matter?

Actually, actor Sapna Gill had filed a criminal revision application against Prithvi Shaw in the court. Now, while filing his reply in the Sessions Court, the cricketer has demanded that it be rejected. The matter is of the night of 15 February 2023. Here at around 1 o’clock, Prithvi Shaw was having dinner with some of his friends at the Mansion Club of Sahara Star Hotel in Santa Cruz.

Meanwhile, a young man named Shobhit Thakur requested Prithvi Shaw to take a selfie. Initially, Shaw allowed a selfie as a courtesy. Although the person was reportedly drunk. Later, he repeatedly insisted on taking many selfies and when refused, he started behaving rudely. After this the security personnel of the club threw him out.

Allegations made by Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw alleges that when he was leaving in his BMW car after dinner, the same person attacked the windshield of the car with a baseball stick. Keeping in mind the safety, Prithvi Shaw was immediately made to sit in another car.

It has also been said in the reply that on the way, Sapna Gill and some of her friends chased him and reached near Oshiwara police station. It is alleged that Sapna Gill got down from the car and started abusing and threatened that if Rs 50 thousand was not given, she would file a false case of molestation. After this she left from there.

Prithvi Shaw and Ashish Yadav said in the court that Sapna Gill is a struggling actress. He fabricated this entire matter for the purpose of publicity and extorting money. He claims that Sapna Gill’s complaint is a counter to the FIR lodged by him earlier.

It was told in the court that Ashish Yadav had already lodged an FIR under sections 143, 148, 149, 384, 427, 504 and 506 in Oshiwara police station regarding the incident of 15 February 2023. On the basis of this, Sapna Gill and her friend were also arrested. After being released on bail, Sapna Gill filed a complaint against Prithvi Shaw and his friend, allegedly with the mindset of taking personal revenge.

On behalf of Prithvi Shaw, it was also said that the Magistrate had ordered investigation under Section 202 of CrPC when prima facie a case was not made out. In this investigation, statements of five eyewitnesses were recorded, none of whom confirmed the allegations made by Sapna Gill.

Prithvi Shaw and Ashish Yadav have requested the Sessions Court to dismiss the application filed by Sapna Gill along with compensatory costs.

What did actor Gill’s lawyer tell?

At the same time, lawyer Ali Kashif Khan Deshmukh, appearing on behalf of Sapna Gill, said, ‘Prithvi Shaw has finally filed her reply after the court’s rebuke. In the last hearing, the court had imposed a fine of Rs 100 on Shaw and warned that the fine would be doubled if he did not file the reply on the next date. There is not a single concrete evidence in the reply filed today. On the contrary, my client has presented a medical certificate from a government hospital, which corroborates the allegations of assault and molestation by Shaw and his associates.

When will the next hearing be held?

The lawyer said that the next hearing in the case will be on March 31. During this, debate will be held not only against Prithvi Shaw but also against the police officers who did not register FIR in violation of the Supreme Court’s Lalita Kumari vs. State guidelines.
