The Union Minister of State for Health, Pratap Rao Jadhav said that under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in the country, more than 41 crore Ayushman cards have been made so far. Maximum 5.33 crore cards have been issued in Uttar Pradesh. It is followed by Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Odisha. Lakshadweep has the lowest 36,000 cards.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has expressed concern over outstanding bills under Ayushman Bharat, which is a threat to the financial condition of the hospital. 300 crore rupees from 2021 to 2023 have not been paid in Gujarat. Only 5 percent of the bills have been settled here within 15 days.

Bill of Rs 1.21 lakh crore under Ayushman Bharat arrears- IMA

According to an RTI filed by Ajay Basudev Bose, Kerala owes Rs 400 crore and the country still owes more than Rs 1.21 lakh crore. The IMA also stated that the package rates are very low and they do not cover the package used in treatment.

According to the NDTV report, IMA National President Dr. Dilip Bhanushali said, “IMA should be called while fixing the rates and packages and we should ensure the process of paying on time. The IMA has recommended to automatically automatically and make real time tracking for transparency.

Make documentation easier- IMA

The IMA said, “Make documentation easier and provide 24/7 digital assistance like WhatsApp, SMS. Encourage recognized and rural hospitals by paying more payment and early approval.” Doctors have warned that without reforms, the purpose of the scheme to provide free, quality healthcare to the poorest people of India should be in danger.
