Nitish Kumar has taken oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the record 10th time. He took oath at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Thursday (November 20, 2025). At that time, all the senior leaders of NDA including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda, UP CM Yogi Adityanath were present on the stage. Before taking oath on the stage, Nitish Kumar was seen talking to a female officer and taking out a slip from his pocket.
As soon as this video appeared on social media, people were curious to know what was in that slip. It was seen in the video that the female officer comes to him, shows him the papers kept in a file and then Nitish Kumar also takes out the slip from his pocket and matches it with the officer’s slip and then puts the slip back in his pocket. During this time, he is also seen calling the female officer and talking to her. This is the same slip which Nitish Kumar was going to read during the oath taking ceremony.
Nitish Kumar has become the first Chief Minister of Bihar, who has taken oath as CM 10 times. He became the Chief Minister of Bihar for the first time in the year 2000, but his government fell within eight days. The second term started in 2005 and he held the command of Bihar continuously till 2014. However, taking responsibility for the poor performance of Janata Dal (United) in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he resigned from the post of CM.
After some time, he again took oath as Chief Minister and last time he took oath as CM in January, 2024. At that time he and his party had returned to NDA. Before that he was the CM in the coalition government with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Nitish Kumar is a member of Bihar Legislative Council and his membership is till May 2030.
