The ED team of Chandigarh Zonal Office conducted simultaneous raids in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab on Wednesday (29 October 2025). This action was related to the inter-state drug smuggling case. The names of people whose locations were raided by ED include Gopal Lal Anjanya, Chhinderpal Singh alias Kewal, Yadvinder Singh and some others associated with them.
During the raid, ED has recovered many important documents, property records and land related documents. Investigation revealed that the accused have two luxurious houses and several acres of agricultural land, the value of which is said to be in crores. The agency believes that all these properties have been purchased with the money earned from the drug trade.
Case registered under NDPS Act
ED started this investigation on the basis of FIR registered by Haryana Police. This case is registered under NDPS Act. Haryana Police had filed a charge sheet in this case against Chhinderpal Singh alias Kewal, his nephew Yadvinder Singh, Gopal Lal Anjanya, Bhola Singh and Harjeet Singh.
Investigation has revealed that Chhindarpal Singh and Yadvinder Singh used to buy opium from Gopal Lal Anjanya from Chittorgarh area of Rajasthan. Some part of this opium was sold to Bhola Singh, Jasmeet Singh and Harjeet Singh, while the rest of the goods were seized by Haryana Police.
misuse of government opium license
According to ED, this gang was buying and selling opium for many years. Gopal Lal Anjanya’s family had a government opium license, but they misused the same license to sell opium illegally. Investigation has also revealed that Jasmeet Singh and Harjeet Singh themselves have confessed that they used to buy opium from Chhindarpal Singh, which they used for intoxicant use.
It has been revealed in the records that Chhinderpal Singh has already been sentenced under the NDPS Act. A case was registered against him on 2 February 2006, in which he was found guilty. Apart from this, on February 1, 2022, Haryana Police had registered another case against him. ED is now deeply investigating the black money and networks of all these people. According to ED, more names may emerge in this case.
