Amidst the war raging in Western Asia, action against Iranian people has intensified even within America. The latest case is related to the family of former Iranian commander Qasim Sulemani, who has been arrested after the green card was cancelled. This action is being linked to allegations related to national security and terrorism.
According to the US State Department, the niece and granddaughter of General Qasim Sulemani, who leads the Quds Force of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), have been arrested by federal agents. This action has been taken after the permanent residence (green card) status of both of them ended. Qasim Soleimani’s niece Hamideh Soleimani and her daughter are in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Accusation of supporting Iran
The US State Department said, ‘Media reports and Soleimani’s social media posts show that he is a vocal supporter of Iran’s ‘dictatorship’ and ‘terrorist regime’ system.’ Her husband is also banned from entering America. According to the statement, she and her daughter had been living a luxurious life in Los Angeles for several years, while publicly supporting the Iranian government and anti-American attacks.
The Trump administration has revoked the green cards or US visas of at least four Iranian citizens associated with the current or former governments of Iran. In which two have been detained and they will be deported from the country. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has made it clear that Iranian citizens are no longer eligible to obtain lawful permanent resident status nor to enter the US.
