Bengaluru Police has registered a case against seven transgender women for assaulting, forcibly confining and shaving the head of a member of their own community. The matter came to light when the 24-year-old victim lodged a complaint that she was forcibly confined in a house in Virat Nagar, beaten and her head was shaved.
A video of this incident is also going viral on social media, in which the shaved head of the victim and the scenes of attack on her are visible. According to the FIR, the victim was living in the house of a transgender woman named Chaitra for the last five months and was earning her living by begging. She told that on October 29, she had gone to KR Puram for work and stayed at the house of another transgender at night.
Shaved head with hair removal cream
The next day, on October 30, at around 3 pm, four transgender women named Prakriti, Neelambari, Mauna and Nagma reached there in two autos and forcibly took her back to Virat Nagar. Taking her there, he asked why she stayed at someone else’s house and said that she would have to stay with him always.
The complaint also states that Prakriti and Shrish shaved her head with hair removal cream, while Mouna, Prakriti, Shrish, Nilambari, Beauty and Chaitra repeatedly beat her with sticks, belts and ropes. This attack continued from noon to 3 pm. The victim also alleged that she was not given food that night and was threatened with further violence.
Case registered against the accused
The police have registered FIR against the seven accused Prakriti (A1), Neelambari (A2), Mauna (A3), Nagma (A4), Shreesh (A5), Beauty (A6) and Chaitra (A7) under sections 118(1), 115(2), 137(2), 133, 142, 351(2), and 190 of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS), 2023, and A case has been registered under Section 18(e) of the Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019. Police said that the search for the accused is going on and the matter is being thoroughly investigated.
