‘Ban on laying of foundation stone of Babri Masjid’, PIL filed in High Court after announcement, political controversy intensifies

Kolkata News: Political turmoil has increased in Murshidabad, West Bengal. The matter has now reached the court after Trinamool Congress Bharatpur MLA Humayun Kabir called for the foundation stone of Babri Masjid in Rezinagar, Murshidabad. Humayun has already been suspended from the party and now a PIL has been filed in the High Court on this issue.

Public interest litigation filed in High Court

Advocate Sabyasachi Chattopadhyay has filed a public interest litigation in the Kolkata High Court. This petition has been submitted to the division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sujay Pal. The petition demands that the Babri Masjid foundation stone laying ceremony to be held on December 6 be banned. Sabyasachi says that Humayun’s comment and appeal for foundation stone laying is anti-constitutional. This petition is likely to be heard on Friday.

Humayun had been giving statements going beyond the party line for the last few months. There was growing resentment within Trinamool regarding his activities. Meanwhile, he called for laying the foundation stone of Babri Masjid on December 6, the day Trinamool celebrates “Solidarity Day”. After this announcement, dissatisfaction increased further in the party. Minister Siddiqullah Chaudhary openly said that Humayun is working at the behest of BJP. After this, on Friday, Minister Firhad Hakim suspended Humayun from the party in a press conference.

TMC’s allegation – Humayun is helping BJP

Firhad Hakim said that when the party is struggling to maintain peace and harmony in the state, Humayun is spoiling the atmosphere by saying such things. He also claimed that the purpose of announcing the foundation stone of Humayun Masjid is to help BJP in the upcoming elections.

After being suspended, Humayun Kabir also made a big attack. He says that the Chief Minister is stopping Muslims from building mosques. Temples are being built with government money, a temple is being built on land worth Rs 1100 crore in Newtown. Trinamool only pretends and deceives Muslims. He also said that he will leave Trinamool and let the Chief Minister do whatever he wants.

Mamta Banerjee’s peaceful message

On the other hand, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, without taking names, said that the people of Murshidabad do not like riots. We celebrate Solidarity Day on 6th December. Respect all religions and want to maintain communal harmony. Now the matter has completely reached the High Court. Whether the program of December 6 will be banned or not, it will become clear in Friday’s hearing.
