Election excitement has increased significantly regarding the upcoming assembly elections in Assam. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while holding an election rally in Assam, has fiercely targeted the opposition Congress party. During this time, he also said many things regarding action against infiltrators in Assam and the development of the tribal community of the state.
Amit Shah targeted Congress party
Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed an election rally in Dudhnoi in Goalpara district of Assam on Friday (April 3, 2026). In his address, Amit Shah said that the Congress Party had made Assam a base for infiltrators. Infiltrators are occupying land in Assam. Even if by mistake, Congress government comes to power in the state, then their infiltrators will enter among the tribals also.
He said, ‘You give us a chance to run the government in Assam for five more years, form the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for the third time also. We have formed the government twice and have identified all the infiltrators. Time is short, give one more year, we will free the state from infiltrators. We will select all the infiltrators and send them back.
Referring to the recent violence in the Garo hills of Meghalaya adjoining Assam, the Home Minister said that the infiltrators tried to grab power in the Garo Parishad of Meghalaya by marrying tribal women and that is why this conflict started.
Roadmap for development of tribals ready: Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have prepared a roadmap for the development of tribals. He urged to implement this roadmap to ensure the return of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to power in the state.
He said, ‘Congress had made Assam a disturbed area. Congress baked political bread on the death of the youth of Assam. If Congress wins in Assam by mistake, there will be unrest again and infiltrators will come again. BJP has restored peace in Assam, but if Congress wins even a single seat in the assembly elections to be held on April 9, the northeastern state will once again face instability.
Tribal people will be kept out of UCC: Shah
According to news agency PTI, while attacking Congress on tribal issues, Amit Shah said, ‘Congress never talked about tribal and tribal communities. Modi ji increased the budget of tribal society. Congress never made any tribal woman the President, but Modi changed it and Draupadi Murmu became the President of India. The Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Assam have prepared a roadmap for the development of tribals. Vote for BJP to take it forward and implement it.
He said, ‘We will bring Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Assam, now no one will be able to do quadruple marriage here. Congress scares tribals in the name of UCC, but today I make it clear that tribal communities and tribal areas will not come under the purview of UCC. Tribal people will be kept out of UCC. I know on whom UCC has to be imposed.
