Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav reviewed the subject related to level crossing, gate security on Wednesday (July 09, 2025) and issued necessary instructions in 11 points. Indian Railways has launched a 15 -day special campaign for the security check of LC Gates, which has been started from 8 July.
Decided on the next day of father’s death
It is worth mentioning that Dau Lal Vaishnav, father of Ashwini Vaishnav, died in Jodhpur AIIMS last yesterday, after which today, despite the last day of his father’s death, despite the funeral and family mourning, the Railway Minister reviewed the important subject of railway safety ‘Level Crossing (LC) Gate Security’ on the phone and he issued 11 important instructions to implement it in the zones of the country.
What are these important instructions?
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in his instructions,
1. CCTV cameras and recording systems should be compulsorily installed at all LC Gates. Solar panels, battery backup, UPS etc. should also be used for power supply. This work should be completed in mission mode.
2. The policy of converting ‘Close to Road traffic’ level crossing into ‘Open to Road Traffic’ should be reviewed.
3. Interlocking work of all LC Gates should be done quickly.
4. Railways’ PSUs should also be included in interlocking and construction works.
5. The TVU limit for interlocking has been reduced from 20,000 to 10,000.
6. All gates more than 10,000 TVU should be interlocked on priority, whether ROB/RUB/LHS are planned or not.
7. All the divisions should check the voice recording of at least 2 non-interlock LC Gates daily.
8. All DRMs ensure that the voice logger system is working and fully active.
9. Speed breakers and warning boards should be applied as per standard and immediately corrected if the mistake is made.
10. LHS/RUB/ROB construction works should be completed rapidly to remove LC Gates.
11. A list of such busy gates should be made, where the public in the past has put pressure on the gateman or misbehaved. The deployment of RPF or Home Guard should be ensured there.
