Abhishek Banerjee got angry at Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif’s threat to Kolkata and said, ‘By entering his house…’

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee reacted on Monday (April 06, 2026) to Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif’s threat to attack Kolkata. He said that after Mamata Banerjee and India Alliance come to power, we will enter their houses and kill them.

Speaking at an election rally in Siliguri, the TMC general secretary cited the comments of Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif. Khwaja Asif had said that Kolkata could also be targeted in a future war between India and Pakistan.

The day government is formed, we will enter their houses and kill them: Abhishek Banerjee

Banerjee said, ‘Two days ago Khwaja Asif had threatened to blow up Kolkata. Our Prime Minister, Home Minister and Defense Minister remained silent. I have written the name of Khawaja Asif in my list, the day Mamata Banerjee and India form a coalition government, we will enter their houses and kill them.

The TMC leader further said, ‘He is threatening to attack Kolkata while sitting in Pakistan, while our Prime Minister Narendra Modi is busy campaigning in Cooch Behar and calling on people to remove TMC.’

TMC attack on Amit Shah

He also targeted Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh for not reacting to Asif’s threat. Abhishek Banerjee said, ‘Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh are silent. Shah calls us Bangladeshi and Pakistani every day, but when Pakistan threatens Kolkata, he becomes a silent spectator.

Khwaja Asif had threatened to attack Kolkata

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif had said that any future conflict with India will not be limited to the border areas. Speaking to journalists in Sialkot, Khawaja Asif claimed, ‘If India tries to run a false campaign, Pakistan will take it to Kolkata.’

Rajnath Singh had warned Pakistan

There has been no reaction from India on these threats by Khawaja Asif, but Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had recently said that any audacity by Pakistan will be responded to. Referring to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April 2025, the Defense Minister said that India’s response has made its position clear and any further provocation will be given a strong response.

Abhishek Banerjee’s comments come amid intense political activity in West Bengal, where TMC has repeatedly targeted the central government over its handling of national security issues, while BJP has earlier accused the party of using offensive language in its election campaign. Let us tell you that voting for the 294-member West Bengal Assembly is scheduled to be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, while the counting of votes will take place on May 4.
