A terrible accident took place on Monday afternoon in the emergency ward of the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Hospital located in Sanathnagar, Hyderabad. During repair work, a centering structure suddenly collapsed, burying four construction workers under the debris. All of them have suffered serious injuries. It is being told that at the time of the accident, about 5 workers were working at the spot, out of which 4 are in critical condition.
According to the information received, a large part of the iron frame and concrete installed for the repair work suddenly collapsed. As soon as information about the accident was received, the hospital administration and local police came into action. Sanathnagar police and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams reached the spot and immediately started the rescue operation. The injured workers were taken out of the debris and sent to the nearest government hospital for immediate treatment, where their condition remains critical.
Instructions for strict action against the accused
Preliminary investigation is suspecting negligence, use of poor construction material or wrong installation of the centering structure. The accused have been identified and instructions have been given to take strict action against them. This incident once again highlights the dangers of ignoring safety standards at construction sites.
Accident occurred due to falling of iron frame and concrete
Four construction workers were buried under the debris when the centering structure collapsed during the repair of the emergency ward. All the injured have suffered serious injuries, five workers were present at the spot at the time of the accident. The accident occurred when a large part of the iron frame and concrete fell. Sanathnagar police and DRF launched the rescue operation. The injured workers were pulled out from the debris and admitted to Gandhi Hospital. The condition of all the injured remains critical.
