Iran’s state media has ridiculed US President Donald Trump’s claim that the US was close to a deal with Iran, which would give the US free oil and independence of the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s government channel Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) shared a video of Trump’s conversation with the media on its official X account and claimed that the American leader is building castles in the air. IRIB also shared a Persian proverb, “A camel dreams of a cotton seed, sometimes swallows it, sometimes eats it piece by piece.”
Building castles in the air!
Or in Persian we have a similar proverb:
‘The camel dreams of cottonseed; sometimes gulping it down, sometimes eating it grain by grain!’cotton seeds in the dream

This proverb is often used to describe a person whose wishes or dreams are far from reality and are unlikely to be fulfilled. In the past, Iran’s last supreme leader Ali Khamenei had also used it to make fun of Trump. Khamenei was killed in the American-Israeli attack on Iran on 28 February.

Washington and Tehran very close to peace agreement – Trump
US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that Washington and Tehran are very close to a peace deal and stressed that Iran has agreed to hand over enriched uranium, a key sticking point in negotiations. Trump told reporters that there is a very good possibility of a deal with Tehran.
Trump also expressed confidence that negotiations with Iran were progressing well and indicated that a breakthrough could be achieved soon. He said, “I think our negotiations are going very successfully at this point.” He further said, “If this happens, it will be announced soon and we will get free oil. Everything will be good. I think oil prices will become lower than before.”
